So far I started the class with many technical problems. How fun! For example, I got stuck mid-way for the tutorial lecture and had to ask for help. Overall, I was a bit slow in learning the process for Maya.
Navigation was easy to learn. But I had a little trouble in trying to adjust the shape of the fingers. I got as far as getting the basic shape of the palm and extending the fingers with extrude. I think the issue was that I was on the wrong mode. It was actually an easy fix... all I had to do was change it into vertex mode and then adjust from there. Then I was able to adjust the shape by using the W key (for move) or the R key (for scale). Finally!!! Now I'm able to form the hand! There is now progress!!! Also to hollow the hand I had to go to face mode and hit delete for the surfaces I've selected. The log ends here as I prep for my next class.

Now that I am able to shape the fingers to make them look like fingers. I've also added a thumb, but it took awhile to shape it. I'm coming across another problem where I have tangled the vertexes. I don't know what happened, I probably shifted them wrong and now one of my fingers are semi-sliced or disattached. It's taking a long time to untangle them, I think it's getting worse by the minute....I'll keep tinkering to see if I could solve the mystery. I also need to figure out how to form the palm. Right now I'm having dent where they shouldn't be and I can't figure out how to make dents where I want them to be (if that made sense at all?). Tonight is gonna be a long night....
