Discussion of first day of class and of In- class work

Today was the first day of classes for the new school year of 2017-2018 and it was my first day of my 3D animation class. I was scared at first because I have never done any 3D modeling or animating in my life but I was the same way last year with 2D animation and made it out ok so I thought why not? no other animation related classes fit with my schedule anyways so I taught it would be good to try more things out of my comfort zone. I soon realized how hard It actually was once I was introduced to this new system called Maya and all the extra turmoil it brought with it. I think it was just hard for me because Im not very good with computers and I get lost very quickly in class when Im trying to fix something and end up not listening to my instructor resulting in me being 3 to 5 steps behind everyone else so the is something I have to get over.  Anyway we went over the Syllablus and we learned most of the basic skills you need to create something simple in Maya. We also watched two videos in class, one about the differences of 2D animation and 3D animation and the other about the whole process of how a giant 3D animated movie gets made like Madagascar or How To Train Your Dragon. I personally liked the process video because it showed me how much really goes into a movie and other possible ways I could help in the Animation Industry even with my basic computer knowledge like being a storyboard artist. Back to Maya, more at the end of the class we started making a basic model for a hand that we will probably be using later for other more intense projects to save time. I wasnt able to finish mine in class because I got stuck somewhere in the presentation and couldnt get caught up before class was done. However I try I learned more from figuring out on my own how to fix my problem. Right now Im hoping I can finish it up before the week end.
